Since the beginning of this State Committee term, the Executive Committee has been working to rebuild the infrastructure of the LPNY and get people into director positions to more widely distribute tasks to more people.
Over the next few months, the implementation of these ideas will begin as we finalize our infrastructure rebuild.
There are couple of business meetings coming up — the LPNY Executive Committee will meet on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 7 p.m. The next meeting of thefull State Committee will meet on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 7 p.m.
Before these, we will be holding our first LPNY Activist Forum, on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. These will be monthly forums held on different days and times each month so as to give more people the opportunity to attend.
At these forums, we are asking county leaders and candidates to talk about their activites and needs and we will also be introducting the LPNY Activist Handbook for new volunteers to learn how to get involved. We will also have featured speakers at most of these meeting to talk on a variety of topics. For the first one, LPNY 1st Vice-Chair Duane Whitmer will talk about the State of Defiance.
If you are not active in the LPNY and want to get involved more, we encourage you to attend. An important point is that we are going to be urging people to get involved locally, as that is where the grassroots activism starts. If your county is not organized an an affiliate, we encourage Libertarians to get together, set a goal of what they would like to see change in their county, and organize. The activism will happen before a formal affiliate, the business side of the party, is formed. Once a core group of Libertarians are ready, then it will be a great time for forming an official affiliate where you can accomplish more with fundraising, a committee structure, and utilizing resources of the LPNY.
