Libertarian Party of New York Chair Responds to the State of the State Address
Albany, New York, January 12, 2021: On Monday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered his State of the State address for 2021, outlining his 2021 plans for New York State. While he did promise to make this address an affair to last the entire week, his plans were well detailed on this first day.
Cuomo teased a multi-part “complex and detailed” plan, with very little detail, focused on, among other things, defeathing COVID-19, managing the economic crisis caused by his executive orders, transitioning to green energy, and addressing systemic injustices. He stressed the importance of individual rights and local solutions, while talking about state solutions to these issues.
Cody Anderson, Chair of the Libertarian Party of New York, has issued a response to Cuomo’s address. He breaks down the Governor’s plans, one by one.
“The Governor’s repeated assertions that the State somehow saved us from a worse fate, and that the government will lead us out of our collective morass, are patently false and delusional,” Anderson explained. “Only when the state gets out of our way, and lets us lead our lives the way we see fit, will New York truly thrive.”
